Just minutes after admitting that she did not particularly enjoy reading Sigrid Undset’s Kristin Lavranstadder series, Thomas Aquinas College freshman Rebecca Hardy was immediately apprehended by fellow students and put in the stocks, sources are confirming.
“Wow, these people really take this book seriously,” Hardy told EOTT as she attempted to avoid the vegetables that were being tossed at her. “I’ve seen bibles with The Imitation of Christ bound into it, but a classmate of mine actually had Kristin Lavranstadder bound into it.”
Hardy went on to say that she did not hate the book, but that she just simply could not keep up with the odd names in the book.
“It was difficult, I admit that,” Hardy said as she began to be pelted with rocks. “I mean, there’s Åashild Gautesdatter, Ingebørg Olavsdotter…still not sure whether those are men or women. There’s Lavrans Bjørgulfsson who may or may not be the same person as Lavrans Langmandsson. One of those guys, If I remember correctly, is the one that lets his daughter get wasted on beer and who sometimes drinks so much he himself has to run to the bushes to Bjørgulf. Wait, Bjørgulf might actually be a character.”
Hardy also added that she was just happy that she did not publicly admit that she’s never actually read Brideshead Revisted all the way through.
