Mosul Muslims Delight Christian Neighbors with “One-Eyed Willy” Smiley Faces
Mosul, IRAQ––The Western Media is reporting a growing new trend in Iraq’s ancient city of Mosul, showing the comradery between its Muslim and Christian inhabitants: a playful bit of graffiti spray-painted on a growing number of Christian homes.
“The symbol clearly represents the character of One-Eyed Willy, the legendary pirate whose treasure is sought by the charming rascals we know as the Goonies,” said MSNBC correspondent Brian Fisher, from a bunker 800 feet below ground level. “It’s beautiful how the adherents of two different religions can put their differences aside and live in peace and harmony while recalling the hilarious adventures of Mikey and his gang tried to save their neighborhood from being torn down and replaced with a golf course.”
The symbol of the one-eyed pirate has, according to media outlets in the West, helped the citizens of Mosul create a new game whereby the Muslims play the Fratellis, a family of lovable criminals who realize that the Goonies are seeking the lost treasure of One-Eyed Willy and chase after them, and the Christians play the Goonies, fleeing the Fratellis and seeking to somehow save their homes at the same time.
“It’s a lot of fun for everyone,” said Mr. Ahmed AlSaif. “The kids especially have a great time playing Goonies-hide-and-Fratellis-seek with their Christian friends. And boy are those Christian children good at hiding! You can hardly find them anymore.”
Reports suggest that the game may develop even further, incorporating some of Data’s “booty traps,” helping Christians to have the appearance of the character “Sloth,” and using special fireworks to cause Christian houses to do the “truffle shuffle.”
