Nancy Pelosi Recites Her Favorite Bible Verse: “What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi quoted her favorite Bible verse while speaking to a group of university students last week, saying that the verse that most speaks to her is “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
Though Pelosi admitted that she has been unsuccessful in her search for the verse in the Bible, she claimed that it was definitely somewhere in there, “most likely in Isaiah or somewhere like that.”
“It’s obviously there somewhere, because I’m using it,” Pelosi told one student when asked where the verse was located in the Bible. “I’ve memorized most of the Bible and the Catechism, but, as is the case with most of us Catholics, we often know the verse but not the address if you know what I’m saying.”
Pelosi went on to recite some of her other favorite verses such as “The cold never bothered me anyway” as well as “I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire cause I am a champion, and you’re gonna hear me roar louder, louder than a lion cause I am a champion, and you’re gonna hear me roar. Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh.”
Shifting her focus to pop music, Pelosi said that “the problem I see with much of pop music these days is that too many of the lyrics are dangerous to our youth, to our society, and to our culture. Take for example the lyrics from one of Eminem’s songs—I can’t really remember which right now—that goes ‘But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened round his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.’ Now don’t get me wrong—I believe in everyone’s right to free speech, but there are limits.”
